Brielle Legging (NB-14Y)

The Brielle legging is a sewing pattern to create a fun high rise legging with three waistbands: an elastic waistband or a low or high yoga waistband. The rise of the Brielle is higher than our Cherielle legging. The Brielle also includes four lengths to enable year-round use. Choose the short, knee, capri or long length to match the current season. The legging has cuffs with a cute optional bow detail. It matches the Monae shirt & dress perfectly.

Skill Level for the Brielle legging

The Brielle legging is perfectly suitable for true beginners. The only challenging part would be attaching the bows to the cuffs. However, every part of the construction is explained clearly and step by step in the instructions, so even if this would be your first sewing project ever, you’ll be able to create fun leggings with our Brielle pattern.

Suggested material for the Brielle legging

To create a Brielle legging, we suggest to use medium weight knit fabrics with at least 30% stretch like: cotton lycra, jersey, interlock or french terry. You can also use a more light weight knit fabric like cotton spandex, but keep in mind that you might need to size down if you choose to use a thinner fabric or a fabric type with more stretch than recommended. We don’t recommend the use of light weight fabric for the bodice when making the dress length. The weight of the skirt will pull down the top, which influences the fit of the top.

For the bands you can choose to use either ribbing or use the same fabric as the dress  or legging (main fabric). The Brielle legging has pattern pieces for the different types of fabrics included, but you might need to adjust depending on the amount of stretch and recovery if you choose a different type of fabric for the bands.

Please note that we don’t recommend the use of French Terry for the high yoga waistband. If you’re making a Brielle legging out of French Terry or similar, you’ll need to adjust the pattern piece of the high yoga waistband.

The Brielle legging has been designed according to the pink kids size chart. The pattern runs from size newborn (50) up to size 14y (164). Always measure your model and use trunk and inseam measurements to choose the correct length and height of the rise.
