Yara Cardigan (NB-14Y)

The Yara Cardigan is a sewing pattern to create a fun cardigan to wear as extra layer over a dress or style casually with pants or jeans. Yara features 3 cool lengths: crop, high hip and regular length to fit your kid’s preference. The Yara Cardigan also has 4 FAB sleeve styles with which you can create a totally new look every time. Try short sleeves, regular long sleeves, bishop sleeves or the fun balloon sleeves. You can also add an optional ruffle for an even sweeter twist. Yara can be made with either buttons or snaps (or you can leave them off) and the fun part is that the pattern is drafted for knits, but wovens will work as well! As with all Fab For You Patterns, the instructions of the Yara pattern also include an inspiring tip section to make the most out of the pattern.

Yara is the fun yet cool cardigan that can be worn as extra layer on cooler moments. The cardigan has a slightly oversized look, which makes it totally teen proof. Use a poofy big knit, a fluffy fake fur or a French terry with a bold print. Wear it over dresses or pants. With Yara you’ll be kept cozy on any occasion.

Suggested material for the Yara Cardigan

To create a Yara Cardigan, we suggest to use medium weight knit fabrics with at least 30% stretch like: cotton lycra, jersey, interlock or french terry. You can also use a more light weight knit fabric like cotton spandex, but keep in mind that you might need to size down if you choose to use a thinner fabric or a fabric type with more stretch than recommended. Although the pattern has been drafted for knits, the pattern has enough positive ease to use woven fabrics or line the cardigan.

For the bands you can choose to use either ribbing or use the same fabric as the cardigan (main fabric). The Yara comes with pattern pieces for the different types of fabrics, but you might need to adjust depending on the amount of stretch and recovery if you choose a different type of fabric for the bands.

Yara has been designed according to the pink kids size chart. The pattern runs from size newborn (50) up to size 14y (164). Always measure your model and use trunk and inseam measurements to choose the correct length.
