Layana Peplum & Dress (NB-14Y)

Tha Layana peplum and dress is a boho inspired PDF sewing pattern with four types of skirts: a peplum, vintage length and a full length circle skirt and a tiered ruffled skirt. The top has a lower waist and spaghetti straps. You can choose to attach the straps straight or crossed. The pattern runs from size newborn to 14y (EU 50 to 164) and the fun part is that all sizes have an optional built-in bralette. This is perfect for girls that like to hang upside down while playing, but would like to keep their dress somewhat in place for more coverage.

Layana is suitable for advanced beginners. The spaghetti straps and tiered ruffles are elements that might need some practicing. Every part of the construction is explained clearly and step by step in the instructions, so this is a great pattern to practice these skills.

Suggested material for the Layana peplum & dress:

To create a Layana Peplum and Dress, we suggest to use medium weight knit fabrics with at least 30% stretch like: cotton lycra or jersey. You can also use a more light weight knit fabric like cotton spandex, but keep in mind that you might need to size down if you choose to use a thinner fabric or a fabric type with more stretch than recommended. Also keep in mind that the weight of the skirt might pull the bodice down when using a less stable fabric.

For the bands you can choose to use either ribbing or use the same fabric as the dress or shirt (main fabric). The Layana peplum and dress comes with pattern pieces for the different types of fabrics, but you might need to adjust depending on the amount of stretch and recovery if you choose a different type of fabric for the bands. If using a thinner fabric for the bands, we suggest to add elastic to the straps for more stability.

Layana  has been designed according to the pink kids size chart. The pattern runs from size newborn (50) up to size 14y (164). Always measure your model and use trunk measurements to choose the correct length for the top and inseam length for the skirt.
