Ulyssa Skirt (NB-14Y)

The Ulyssa skirt is a fairly simple, but elegant and fun sew. The skirt features a full circle twirly flounce and a fun asymmetric gathered top part, which creates a playful look. Ulyssa has several options for the waistband and there are also multiple ways to finish the hem. Ulyssa is the perfect summer skirt, but combine it with our Brielle or Cherielle leggings to wear it all year long.

Ulyssa is suitable for beginning sewists. The challenging part of the skirt is attaching the gathering elastic to the skirt. However, the instructions will provide clear and step by step help to be able to create fantastic skirt with a high twirl factor, even if this is your first sewing project.

Suggested material for the Ulyssa skirt

To create the Ulyssa skirt, we suggest to use light or medium weight knit fabrics with at least 30% horizontal and vertical stretch like: rayon spandex, cotton lycra/jersey, French terry, (summer) sweat. Keep in mind that you might need to size up in width if you choose to use a thicker fabric or a fabric type with less stretch than recommended or size down with a thinner fabric or a fabric type with a lot of stretch. You can choose to add elastic into the waistband or make an elastic waistband. You’ll also need a small piece of thin elastic to gather the skirt.

The Ulyssa Skirt has been designed according to the pink kids size chart. The pattern runs from size newborn (50) up to size 14y (164). Since everyone is different and proportions vary across kids, always measure your model and use inseam measurements to choose the correct length. Waist and hip measurements are the base measurements for the Ulyssa skirt.
